If you're not already obsessed with Lauv – the 23-year-old singer, songwriter and producer — then prepare yourself. His songs are seriously so beyond catchy and with lyrics that just speak to your soul, so yeah he's kind of amazing. Lauv even exclusively took J-14 behind-the-scenes of his latest video shoots. With 700 million streams on Spotify, the singer just wrapped an international tour opening for Ed Sheeran – and he has already sold out his 2018 US tour too. Not only did he co-write "No Promises" by Cheat Codes and Demi Lovato, but he also co-wrote "Boys" for Charli XCX so along with creating hits for himself, he knows how to create bangers for everyone else too. Watch the video above to see a behind-the-scenes sneak peek of Lauv's video shoots for I Met You When I Was 18.
His new playlist I Met You When I Was 18 is available on Spotify now and includes the songs, "I Like Me Better," "Paris in the Rain," "Comfortable," "Paranoid," "The Other," "Reforget," "The Story Never Ends," "Enemies," "Come Back Home," "Question," "Easy Love," "Adrenaline," Chasing Fire," "Breathe," “Bracelet,” "Getting Over You," “Never Not." Sounds a lot like album, right? Wrong. Lauv is calling it a "playlist" for a special reason.
Lauv told Billboard in an interview, "I didn’t want it to be an album because it’s been such a long period of time. But I wanted to let people into that journey of like 'Hey this is literally just what it is. This is my life, it’s a playlist, it’s an ongoing thing where I’m piecing together this chapter of my life when I was in New York, in my first serious relationship, trying to figure myself out. Like, here it is.' And I’ve been building upon it just naturally."
Fans might be suprised to learn that Lauv's real name is Ari Staprans Leff. Ari (AKA Lauv) started out playing piano, viola and guitar at a very young age – and soon, he began writing music as well. He graduated from New York University with a degree in music technology, and it's been success after success ever since. We're here for it.
